India, the Unknown Citizen

From the desk of Vitasta Raina

Who are you?
Sitting in the corner office,
making resolutions
for a new day, a new race.
In the unsurmountable tragedies
of life, in the feudal democracies
of being,
in time's landscapes,
beyond the mirror,
beyond the constructs and fabrics,
beyond the elaborate hoax,
and habit.
Burnt out at last,
overcoming doubt,
intellectual property,
overcoming reason.
Why cry over a failing system,
over beggars and immunity,
over reservations,
over gullibility.
Naive child traversing the oceanic
reaches of mankind,
to find a rock,
to sit on top of
and stare down into
their teary soup.
